Events & Tasting Team Member

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated part-time beer lovers to join our Events & Tastings Team in the Baltimore, DC, & NoVA area.
Our UNION Events & Tastings Team are vital members of our growing family. Team members will support and represent our UNION brand at in-store tastings and off-site events. 
The ideal candidate:
•    has an enthusiastic interest in, and knowledge of, craft beer; 
•    has a strong work ethic and enjoys working as part of a unified team; 
•    enjoys talking to people from all walks of life and communicates well;
•    has good energy, an outgoing attitude, and would be a positive representative of UNION Craft;
•    has great customer service skills and enjoys getting people to try something new;
•    has part-time availability to work events and tastings on weeknights and weekends.

This position is a great opportunity for someone to develop their customer service, events, and sales skills within the craft brewing industry. UNION is offering part-time employment in this position.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•    Collaborates with Sales and Events Team Leader to attend and staff marketing events. 
•    Attends and participates in tastings and events as scheduled, supporting & representing the UNION brand.
•    Clearly communicates availability to the supervisor on an ongoing basis.
•    Maintains familiarity with all UNION products, product availability, and sale techniques.
•    Maintains familiarity with general beer and beer industry knowledge.
•    Maintain familiarity with liquor laws and licensing practices for all distribution areas.
•    Maintain familiarity of how to use and troubleshoot related events and beer pouring equipment such as jockey boxes.
•    Delivers product to events and tastings when needed.
•    Delivers promotional materials to events and tastings when needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Ability to meet physical challenges of delivering beer and events kits to events.
•    Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards.
•    Self-motivated with good time management skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
•    Ability to coordinate with other staff and departments according to schedule.
•    Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
•    Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
•    Frequently required to lift up to 75lbs.; occasionally may be required to lift up to 150 lbs.
•    Occasionally required to drive.
•    Must have a positive attitude.

Beertender Assistant AKA Knoller

Reports To:
Beertenders / UNION Hall Manager

Job Summary: The Beertender Assistant facilitates visitor enjoyment by performing a variety of customer service support duties including, but not limited to, greeting customers and co-workers, stocking bar, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of bar facilities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
• Represent UNION as a UNION team member.
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors. i.e.) Greet and serve visitors in a positive and
friendly way. Greet everyone who visits the Union Hall with a hello and goodbye. Treat everyone like a regular.
• Interact with visitors to develop and maintain a favorable public image. Answer questions
and educate guests about Union and help connect them to Beertenders for assistance. 
• Promote other items we offer for sale.
• Set up and breakdown Union events.
• Maintain comfort & cleanliness throughout the Tap Room, Staff Kitchen, Storage Areas, walk-in cooler, office, and restrooms.
• Ensure the Tap Room, Staff Kitchen, counters, sinks, coolers, shelving, and storage areas are clean and comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards at all times.
• Report all equipment problems, bar maintenance issues, violations, or substandard practices
to your supervisor immediately upon encountering a problem.
• Attend staff meetings, events, and other functions required minimum 2 staff meetings per quarter.
• Promote good public relations and handle complaints and concerns of guests.
• Report any issues with Draft & Cask System immediately to the Union Hall Manager.
• Assist with inventory procedures. Alert Supervisor about shortages or discrepancies.
• Minimize waste by ensuring all sales go through POS system properly and the Draft & Cask Systems are operating optimally at all times.
• Follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests.
Education and Experience:
• Prior customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Training Available.
Special Requirements:
• Ability to work a flexible schedule: days, nights, holidays and or weekends. Saturday availability is required for this position.
• Current TIPS or Alcohol Awareness Training (Available through Union)

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
• Position requires basic knowledge of draft systems.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
• Ability to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and be able to move kegs that weigh close to 165 pounds.
• Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for a variance from proper operation.
Environmental Conditions:
While performing the duties of this position, the worker is exposed to inside environmental conditions, extreme heat, the potential for physical injury, exposure to hot fluids, pressurized vessels and transfer lines, strong odors, chemicals, and unpleasant tasks such as handling garbage.
