Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Cacao, Vanilla, Cinnamon & Chili
Introducing Hot Spot, a decadent Imperial Stout aged for three years in bourbon barrels. This limited-edition beer is a bold fusion of cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, and chili pepper, creating a perfect balance of spice and sweetness.
Poured into the glass, Hot Spot is a thick, opaque black with a transient cocoa foam. Mexican hot chocolate aromas emerge first, laying the foundation for rich, roasted malt, followed by thick brownie batter, wheated bourbon, toffee, and toasted oak. The first sip envelops your palate with sweet Sumatera vanilla and melted dark chocolate, while a snap of cinnamon and the heat from fresh chili pepper introduce a bold, warming intensity. The result is a luscious stout that lingers with layers of complexity—decadent yet balanced, rich yet spiced, and endlessly delicious.
First released in 2020 and again in 2022, we’re thrilled to present the third iteration of Hot Spot, and quite possibly our best version yet. Brewer and Barrel-Aging Connoisseur Dean has spent three years meticulously nurturing each barrel, checking in on them monthly to ensure the perfect balance of flavors. With each batch, he’s refined the recipe and the aging process, resulting in a beer that’s both rich in history and bursting with new complexity.
